Be Green On Earth Day In Streeterville

Streeterville Earth Day Cleanup!

Come join SOAR-Streeterville Organization of Active Residents in its effort to keep the Streetervillle community clean and green. It will be held on Earth Day, Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 9:00 am -12:00pm, Rain or Shine.  The Streeterville event will kick-off with light refreshments from Fox & Obel at Streeterville Properties located at 432 E. Parking In Streeterville, Chicago

So-You have decided to finally make the move from the suburbs to downtown Chicago. The children have moved out and  you want to enjoy the the cultural and shopping opportunities of city life. You have investigated the neighborhoods and have determined that Streeterville and the 60611 zip code area fulfills your expectations.
 
"There must be hundreds of condos to  choose from!" you surmise.

Your 2 cars have always been garaged-salt, snow and the Midwest elements are the bane of vehicular maintenance.  A tour of Streeterville also reveals little if any off street parking. It's pretty clear that if you are going to live in Streeterville, you will have to limit your home search to condos which have 2 garage spaces available to rent or own.

Your real estate agent makes a property search for condos in the 60611 area. She/He finds that as of March 22,2011 there are 191 condos currently for sale with 2 or more garage spaces. Lots of properties to choose from, you think.
                                                                                                                                            The average list price is $1,665,444 and the median price is $1,199,000.  A price point outside of your original parameters. How many have been constructed since 2001?  Only 75 have been constructed in the last 10 years. How about east of Michigan Ave? The total is 39. Well-that is still a good number to choose from. You tell your agent to set up showing appointments for those units but to limit them to properties listed for under a $1,000,000.

That leaves you a grand total of 9 properties to choose from. Oh-one other detail. It must be more than 1900 approximate square feet as you are moving from a 2400asf single family home.

A diligent property search reveals that there is only one property on the market at this time that meets those requirements. It is located at 415 E North Water Street!!!

great food for a market cafe

In Streeterville and looking for a safe bet for breakfast or lunch? F&O offers great basics and some gourmet touches making it worth the stop. I go once a week for the organic coffee alone. Breakfast paninis are fantastic, the sandwich offerings never disappoint, and the portions are generous. Baked goods are also winners. Seating can be tight, especially during weekday lunch and weekend brunch hours, so be patient. Service is friendly and atmosphere is agreeable considering it's a cafe attached to a gourmet market and not your corner bistro. Check it out at least once; if you're a local, you're guaranteed to come back.
